The primary school teacher who flogged her 8-year old pupil to death at Landmark International School Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been remanded in a Correctional Center in the State.
The suspect, Mrs Faith Nwoye was remanded after hearing of the matter in a Special Court handling women and children related matters in the State.
The matter had earlier been charged to court following petition written to the Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, against the School’s Proprietor, Mrs Promise Iloh and the teacher, Faith Nwoye, by Mr Ojiakor Okonkwo.
The suspects were invited to explain what led to the brutalization of the pupil, Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who later died.
The matter was eventually handed over to the Police for investigation.
Commissioner for Education had directed immediate closure of the school, citing its illegal operations.
According to Chuma-Udeh, “As soon as the Police is done, this teacher would face other institutions against child rights. She is going to have the full wrath of the law brought upon her over her actions.”
