A notorious fake native doctor and ‘Yahoo Man’ has been arrested with a woman’s pant in Anambra State.
The suspect, identified as Ikechukwu Nderibe, who hails from Umunneoha, Mbaitolu, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, was arrested at Adazi in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, where he wanted to fraudulently extort a man simply identified as Akpa Mgbọ, but met his waterloo.
Although the identity of the group that arrested him has not been ascertained as at the time of filing this report, one of the exhibits recovered from the suspect include a female underwear (pant).
Speaking during interrogations by his arrestors, the videos of which have gone viral on social media, Mr. Nderibe confessed to be a traditional ‘Yahoo Man’, and also confessed to have defrauded so many people in different places and states, including Anambra and Imo.
When asked how he does his own, he revealed that he would source for someone’s number, contact them, visit them, and tell them that someone (their relative or another person they know) came to his shrine and reported them, and also paid him to harm them.
Continuing, he said he would tell them that after he did some incantations and spiritual investigations, he found out that they’re innocent; and then he would tell them that he would need to buy some items to perform some traditional cleansing on their head to shield them from danger also set them free from the report that was brought against them in his shrine, on the claim that he would not want to harm an innocent person. This, he said, would make the person to give him the requested money for the said items and also appreciate him financially for the said cleansing work he would do, and after he would pocket the money, without doing anything.
He mentioned that he had used this strategy to defraud over 30 persons in Imo State, while, in Anambra State, some persons identified (by their nicknames) as Eze Aguiyi in Agulu, Agwo in Adazi, Eze Ajani in Enugwu-Ukwu have all fallen victims of his tricks recently, before misfortune hit him at Akpa Mgbọ’s place at Adazi, who finally exposed his machinations, leading to his apprehension. He further identified his accomplice in the act as Ijeoma Ogumba (also from Imo State), whom he also identified as his fiancee, though currently on the run.
When asked about the woman’s pant recovered from him, Mr. Nderibe claimed that it belonged to a commercial sex worker, simply identified as Ifeoma, whom, he said, brought it to him at a popular hotel where he lodged in Onitsha and requested him to use it to perform some traditional rituals for her, so that she would be getting enough customers in her harlotry hustle.
Nderibe, who was arrested over the weekend, claimed that he lodged in the said hotel on October 28th, where he said the lady brought the underwear to him. He, however, could not provide the phone number of the lady for confirmation of his claims, further claiming that he intended to drop the underwear at a T-junction after performing the necessary rituals, as he discussed with the said sex worker.
Efforts by this reporter, Izunna Okafor, to get the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, to confirm or react to the incident proved abortive, as he was yet to respond to the message of inquiry sent to him, as at the time of this publication.
