A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former member of House of Representatives, Hon Ifeanyi Ibezi has endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for second term.
Ibezi who once represented Idemili North and South federal constituency said his decision was informed by his party’s unreadiness to win the forthcoming governorship election.
He added that his move was in protest of the victory of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu over other aspirants of the party considered to be more polished and electable.
Speaking during a meeting in his country home in Abatete, Ibezi said he has switched his allegiance to the incumbent governor.
He said, “Governor Chukwuma Soludo must be elected for a second term since my party is not ready to field an electable candidate.
“We will start with the 710 polling units in Idemili North and South. Same way I delivered the zone to Tinubu in 2021, gave it to Soludo in the last election is how I will package the zone’s votes in November and deliver it to Soludo.
“I went on inspection of his projects and I know he is doing well. If your party is not doing well, what will you do, is it not to switch support to a better party?
“Do you want to be stagnated for the next eight years? I know what to do, if you have been my follower all these years and you have not learnt politics, then you are not intelligent.
“I will advise you to stop coming to political meetings in my house. Our support will move immediately to Soludo.”
Three governorship aspirants of the APC had stepped down from the race in Saturday’s primary election, citing irregularities and violent tendencies of one of the aspirant.
While Prof Obiora Okonkwo said he could not risk the lives of his supporters in his quest for the party primary ticket, Sir Paul Chukwuma cited the existence of unprogressive elements as reason for his dumping the party.
