Ex-Nnewi Chamber of Commerce Boss Emerges Nsuko-Ora Nnewi Leader

People of Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State under the umbrella of Nsuko-Ora Nnewi on Sunday elected new set of leaders to pilot the affairs of the industrial town for the next four years.

In a keenly contested election, the former National chairman of Ndiakwu-Otolo Nnewi, and former President of Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Hon. Jude Osumuoh defeated Prof Edwin Chukwumwa.

By his election victory, Hon Osumuo will take over from Chief Maduka Atuenyi who has been piloting the affairs of the the town for the last four years.

Osumuo, who is also the immediate past Vice President of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, polled 133 votes to defeat his only rival, Prof. Edwin Chukwuma, who got 117 votes.

In his acceptance speech after the election, Osumuo expressed happiness over his victory and thanked Nnewi community for the trust reposed in him; promising not to let the people down.

He promised to build a befitting town hall for the community within one year in office.

The new chairman of Nsuko-Ora Nnewi also beckoned on his opponent Prof. Chukwuma to join hands with him to move the industrial town forward.

Also speaking, Prof. Edwin Chukwuma, a university lecturer, promised that he would work with the winner to move the community forward.

He said, “This is a brotherly election. There must be a winner and a loser. The winner has emerged, and I congratulate him. I will work with him.”

Other positions were also keenly contested For in the Sunday afternoon election.
