A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning, July 7, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, as a 300-level Microbiology student, Tochi Martins Attah, reportedly slumped and died while playing football. The incident took place at the Elmada Hostel premises.

Tochi, fondly known among his peers as T-Funds, was the younger brother of Hon. Dr. Simon Attah, the current chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. Reports indicate that Tochi had recently made a switch from Microbiology to a medical course before the unfortunate event.
