It’ll Be Like Magic, Soludo Will be Defeated -Nwafor

In a recent interview on News Central TV, former Anambra State APC governorship aspirant Onyeka Nwafor issued a bold prediction that has sent ripples across the state’s political landscape. With the November 8 gubernatorial election drawing closer, Nwafor declared: “Take this from me: by November 8, Professor Chukwuma Soludo will be defeated; it will be like magic.”

The remark came during a heated discussion on the Breakfast Central programme, where Nwafor was asked to assess the performance of the Soludo-led APGA administration. He accused the governor of failing to deliver on key promises and argued that Anambra residents were disillusioned with what he described as “phantom projects and empty rhetoric.”

According to Nwafor, the much-publicized “Dubai-Taiwan” vision of Governor Soludo has remained an illusion, while insecurity, unemployment, and poor infrastructure continue to plague the state. “You cannot call it progress when families still live under the fear of kidnappers and hospitals resemble mortuaries. People know the truth, and by November they will express it at the ballot box,” he said.

But APGA’s national publicity secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, who also featured on the programme, rejected Nwafor’s claims. He insisted that Soludo has transformed Anambra into “a single construction site” with massive road projects, education reforms, and health initiatives. Opara argued that defections to opposition parties were politically insignificant and dismissed suggestions that APGA’s dominance in the state was waning.

Political analysts believe the exchange reflects the high stakes in the November poll, which many see as a test of Soludo’s popularity after nearly four years in office. While APGA has enjoyed uninterrupted rule in Anambra since 2006, the growing confidence of APC leaders like Nwafor signals a renewed determination by opposition forces to break the party’s stronghold.

As the campaign season intensifies, Anambra voters will be watching closely to see whether Nwafor’s bold forecast of a “magical” defeat for Soludo proves prophetic—or whether APGA’s history of resilience will once again carry the day.
