The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, Chioma Ifemeludike, has insisted she is not interested in any political appointment, stressing that her entry into politics was driven by a desire to champion accountability and people-centred leadership.

Ifemeludike made the declaration on Saturday during a post-election press conference and a lunch time hangout with 292 voters held at the Golphins Suits, Awka. She explained that the gathering was organised to appreciate the 292 voters who supported her at the polls, as well as other supporters who encouraged her throughout the electioneering period.

Ifemeludike noted that her political participation was not motivated by personal gain but by a genuine commitment to long term governance reforms in Anambra State. She emphasised that she remained steadfast in her mission to promote transparency, justice, and inclusive development.

According to her, accepting a political appointment would undermine the principles on which she contested and the expectations of the voters who believed in her vision. She said her goal is to build a strong movement that would continue to challenge the status quo and advocate for improved governance, especially for underserved groups across the state.

The AAC candidate said the lunch time hangout symbolised her appreciation to those who believed in her despite the challenges of running against established political structures. She described the voters as courageous individuals who chose people over politics and demonstrated that integrity still matters in the electoral process. She also encouraged them to stay engaged in civic activities, monitor government performance, and hold leaders accountable beyond elections.

Ifemeludike reaffirmed her dedication to grassroots mobilization and political education, stating that she would continue to work with civil society, youth groups, and community leaders to advance the ideals she campaigned on.
