The remains of one late Chief Sir Gabriel Odili George Ume-Ezeoke have been laid to rest in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State over one year after his d3ath.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Ify Obinabo, in a statement on Thursday, December 4, 2025 said Chief Odili’s body has been in the mortuary for over one year because his brother denied the widow access to her husband’s compound and seized his corpse.

Government officials led by Obinabo, her staff, friends and some of Ume-Ezeoke’s family were on ground to inter his remains with a court order.

In her condolence message, Obinabo urged the family to embrace peace, saying that d3ath is not the end of life, but a transition to eternal glory.

Responding, some of the family members appreciate the State Government for all the effort made to bury their brother and prayed for his peaceful repose.

In an interview, the wife of the deceased, Mrs Ume-Ezeoke described her husband, who passed away at the age of 76, as a kind and generous man, a peace maker who touched countless lives and prayed for Governor Soludo for bringing solution to her doorstep.
