The Anambra State Police Command has outlined key reasons why eligible citizens, particularly indigenes of the state, should consider a career in the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, described the Police Force as a critical platform for meaningful participation in national development.
According to Ikenga, the Command noted that joining the Police Force offers Anambra indigenes a unique opportunity to contribute actively to improved policing services, promote national unity, and support broader nation-building efforts.
He further stated that increased participation of indigenes in the Force would strengthen community-oriented policing, enhance public trust, and improve security outcomes.
This, he explained, is achievable through a deeper understanding of the local environment, culture, and people, which indigenes naturally possess.
“Policing is a noble profession anchored on service, discipline, and patriotism. It provides structured career progression, professional training, and an opportunity to make a positive impact on society by safeguarding lives and property,” the statement said.
The Command, therefore, encouraged Anambra indigenes to view enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force as a constructive means of contributing to national security and governance. It emphasized that active involvement in national institutions remains essential for inclusive development, sustainable security, and lasting peace.
