The youthful and charismatic Divine Ngobidi is contesting for the APGA ticket for Ihiala 2 constituency, against Hon. Golden Iloh, the House of Assembly member representing Ihiala 2 constituency. With some of the constituents in Ihiala 2 critical of Hon. Golden Iloh’s performance in the Anambra State House of Assembly in about three years, this gap might deteriorate into a crucial blockage against the incumbent’s plan to return.
During his screening yesterday at the APGA regional secretariat, Mr. Divine Ngobidi said that Hon. Golden Iloh’s performance in the last three years is below average. “To the best of my knowledge, his performance is below average. So, as a people, we need something different. Bringing more dividends of democracy to the constituents and we are coming with something different; programmes and policy focus that will uplift the constituents,” Mr. Divine said.
Emphasizing his earlier position, but this time narrowing down to constituency projects, Mr. Divine Ngobidi, noted that there is no project from the incumbent in three years. “There is no visible constituency project in the Ihiala 2 constituency. There is none. But I can be challenged, if there is. But there is none”, Ngobidi insists.
Speaking on the support for the incumbent for a possible return, Hon. Divine challenged journalists to go to the Ihiala 2 constituency and find out what the people feel about Hon. Golden Iloh. “The people are not supporting him to return. You can go to the constituency and find out. It is something that can be verified,” Divine said.
For the screening exercise, Mr. Divine described it as a transparent process. “It is very transparent. I can tell you categorically that it is transparent and the directive of the governor and the National Working Committee of our party is 100% followed,” Divine said, confirming his confidence in winning the party’s ticket, but added that the people will decide. “Let the people decide, but 90% of the people are not with him. But let the people decide and let the result show on the 23rd,” he concluded.
