Anambra State has again demonstrated its global competitive edge with its budding human capital, as Chibusonma Enuka, a student of Mater Amabilis Secondary School in Anambra State, representing Nigeria with two others at the ongoing 2026 World Schools Debating Championship, emerged the Overall Best Speaker during the Shanahan Debate Championship.
Chibusonma, the Senior Prefect of Mater Amabilis Secondary School in Anambra State, was named the Overall Best Speaker at the ongoing World Schools Debate Championship in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
The World Schools Debating Championship is an annual debate competition involving over 80 countries across the world and the biggest global debate competition for college students. This 2026 Nairobi edition is the second ever to be held on African soil.
Based on her performance, Anambra’s Chibusonma is easily one of the brightest students of African heritage participating in this year’s debate competition. In the competition that is still ongoing, Nigeria is represented by debaters from Anambra and Benue States.
Chibusonma’s outstanding eloquence that earned her global recognition speaks to Governor Soludo’s agenda on global quality human capital through an intentional teaching and learning experience in Anambra State, which the government is focused on building, scaling, and sustaining.
