Governor Soludo makes a strong case for investment in Anambra State

By Daniel Ezeigwe

There is something deeply important about watching someone cook a meal the old-fashioned way: with familiar ingredients, natural flavours and the patience to let food speak for itself. This is at the heart of Nonye Soludo’s Healthy Living Cooking Series. At a time when many traditional Igbo delicacies are gradually disappearing from our kitchens, while synthetic and highly processed foods are becoming increasingly attractive, she is reminding us that some of the healthiest things we can eat may already be part of our culinary heritage. Her cooking lessons are, therefore, much more than recipes for social media. They are educational projects designed to inspire a change in how families think about food, prepare it and ultimately consume it.

The bigger message is the gospel of Healthy Living. Food should not merely be something we eat to silence hunger; it should be part of the medicine cabinet of a healthy life. What goes into the family pot matters. The ingredients we choose, how we prepare them and how frequently we consume them can influence the wellbeing of everyone around the table. By bringing forgotten and abandoned healthy delicacies back into public consciousness, Nonye Soludo is helping families rediscover the wisdom embedded in traditional foods. She is also making healthy eating feel less like a punishment and more like a return home; to meals that are nourishing, familiar, affordable and delicious.

Perhaps the most relatable lesson is that healthy food does not have to be tasteless food. In her cooking demonstrations, Nonye Soludo deliberately prepares meals without artificial seasonings, showing that natural ingredients can produce rich flavours when properly combined. This is a powerful lesson for households that have become accustomed to believing that a meal is incomplete without heavily processed condiments. Her approach challenges that assumption gently: you can cook food that smells wonderful, tastes delicious and still respects your body. In doing so, she is not simply teaching people what to cook; she is teaching them to become more conscious about what they put on their plates and in their mouths.

That is why Nonye Soludo’s cooking lessons should matter to every household. They speak to the mother deciding what to put in the family pot, the father concerned about his family’s wellbeing, the young person learning to cook and even the child growing up to understand that healthy choices can be enjoyable. The real success of the Healthy Living Cooking Series will not be measured by views, likes or comments, but by the number of kitchens where people begin to make better choices because they watched and learned. When a cooking lesson inspires a family to replace an unhealthy habit with a healthier one, it has already achieved something far greater than social media engagement. It has become a quiet but powerful instrument of social change, one kitchen, one meal and one household at a time.
