The Government of Anambra State has called on certified landowners in the State to apply for recertification to enable a smooth transition from the old system, which will be shut down indefinitely by the end of the year, to the new ANAMGIS database. This recertification exercise is to enable a seamless transfer of the property rights of titleholders to the new system.
In a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Lands, Mrs. Nkeiru Mokwe, Esq., titleholders in Anambra State are advised that the old system will be phased out by the end of the year. “The old system will be shut down indefinitely on the 31st day of December, 2026, after which the holders of the old Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) will no longer be able to carry out any transactions such as Mortgages, Deed of Assignment, Certified True Copy (CTC), Registration of Power of Attorney, etc., unless their documents have been duly recertified and captured in the ANAMGIS database,” she said.
With this development, once the old system is phased out, only those who are recertified and keyed into the new system will be accorded their full property rights. Titleholders in Anambra State who are yet to be recertified are therefore encouraged to contact the Ministry of Lands to follow through with the recertification process.
