The newly minted government of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has kick started on a very good note with appointments. Some of the appointments are pointing fingers to men and women who are going to wield a lot of power in Soludo’s administration. Most of them are technocrats while others are normal politicians. In fact, Soludo is beginning to position some of them as his likely successors. These people also are positioning themselves politically so they will not be caught unawares at the twilight of Soludo’s administration. Though it is too early to begin permutation and prediction, two young men stands out:
CHINEDU NWOYE (GLAMOUR): Probably in his forties, Chinedu was the head of All Soludo Support Group and has been with Soludo since his first governorship election in 2010. He was recently appointed the new government’s Deputy Chief of Staff/State Chief Protocol Officer and these positions, political watchers say are very powerful in any government. Glamour is the first and may be the only person to clinch two positions in Soludo’s administration. Immediately after Soludo’s victory, Glamour has been able to organize a victory novelty football match for Soludo where 21 local governments in Anambra state participated and received wide accolade. He has equally initiated a co-operative group of Soludo’s supporters and has recently disbursed about 2.5 million naira in funding of small businesses. People are seeing this action as a move to expand his political tentacles. Chinedu Nwoye is from Nawfia which is in Anambra Central Senatorial District, believed to be the next zone to occupy the government house after Soludo.
NELSON OMENUGHA: is a politician, social entrepreneur and a lecturer. He is the son of the immediate past commissioner for education, Prof. Kate Omenugha. He studied mass communication at undergraduate level and bagged Masters of Art degree in strategic marketing communications and Master of Science in International Marketing Communication Strategy. Nelson Omenugha is the Founder of Youths Earnestly Seek Soludo (YESS), an organization that mobilized Anambra youths for Soludo during the governorship election campaign in 2021. Through the group, they assisted a great deal in sourcing and raising funds for Soludo’s campaign. Nelson Omenugha is one of the few young men who has Soludo’s ears in very weighty matters. In fact, rumor has it that it was Soludo who sponsored his Ph.D programme in filming making in China. Recently, he was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment Programme. Coming from a political family with strong political allies he has started to build network. Nelson’s body language confirms he may have interest for higher political position probably the next governor of Anambra state after Soludo. He is also from Nnobi in Anambra Central Senatorial District and this might be an advantage to him.
This prediction is not cast on a stone and it is too early for such permutation as political moves and dynamics of power keeps unfolding on daily basis.
