Onitsha, the commercial nerve of Anambra State, has been ranked 4th among the best performing cities in Nigeria, according to Statisense’s latest report.
The city was ranked high in economics, human capital, quality of life, environment, and governance.
Other top cities that were ranked by Statisense include Lagos which was placed as the top-performing city in Nigeria. Lagos was trailed by Abuja, Enugu which came second and third respectively , while Ibadan was ranked the fifth top best performing City in Nigeria.
Other cities that made the list are,Owerri,Ilorin;Ogbomosho,Aba,Port Harcourt Abeokuta,Jos,Benin,Kano,Zaria,Maiduguri ,Kaduna and Sokoto.
Speaking about the report, a businessman and resident of the Onitsha,Mr Chuka Okeke explained that the city’s strategic location and entrepreneurial spirit could be a contributing factor to its growth.
He noted that despite the growth,Onitsha has continued to face the challenges of unchecked urbanization coupled unavailability of some social amenities.
