The South East Zonal Coordinator of Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN), High Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, has been honoured with the Accolade Youth Empowerment Icon of the Year 2026 awards at the 6th Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards ceremony held on Friday at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The award is in recognition of Engr. Onunkwo’s outstanding contributions to youth empowerment, humanitarian service, and community development in Nigeria.
A renowned philanthropist, politician, businessman, and oil and gas expert, Engr. Onunkwo has continued to impact lives through the Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation, which has championed several empowerment and social welfare initiatives across communities.
Presenting the award on behalf of the Club, the President of De Imperial Philanthropic Family, High Chief Dr. Sir Darlington Nwabuike described Johnbosko Onunkwo as a worthy commander of the great club.
Speaking after receiving the award, Engr. Onunkwo expressed appreciation to the organisers and members of RTIFN for the confidence reposed in him and his leadership.
He further stressed the need for collective efforts toward national development and sustainable solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
“We must continue to seek solutions to the problems facing Nigeria. The moment we find those solutions, the country will continue to grow stronger,” Onunkwo added.
Earlier, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Accolade Dynamic Limited, Doofan Tor, said recipients of the awards emerged through a transparent public voting process.
“The award recipients all emerged through a publicly transparent voting system and were all rewarded for making remarkable impacts in their various niches.”
Other award recipients included, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State, FCT, Marist Mahmoud Bunkure; Benue State Governor Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia; Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and his spouse; as well as Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu and spouse; Emir of Keffi Dr Shehu Isman Chindo Yamusa III; among others.
Some dignitaries and associates who attended the event described Engr. Onunkwo as a humble and visionary leader whose commitment to humanitarian service has continued to inspire many young Nigerians.
Nollywood legend, Zach Orji while congratulating him for the award, noted that the award shows that Engr Onunkwo “is a man whose works have been recognised. I rejoice with him and I say a loud resounding shutout to him to continue doing the good work of touching his community, touching the society he lives in. God bless you, Johnbosco.”
The colourful ceremony attracted political leaders, diplomats, business executives, youth advocates, and notable personalities from different parts of the country.
