The Federal Road Safety Corps has reported that a hit and run trailer driver on Sunday crushed a motorcyclist to death beyond recognition at Ihiala, Ihiala local government area of Anambra state, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports.
Sector commander of the corps in the state CC Adeoye Irelewuyi who gave the report in a statement released to journalists Sunday night, said it was an unfortunate incident but warned motorists to consider other road users while using the roads to guard against avoidable crashes as well as save lives and entrench sanity on the highways.
The statement says, “Unidentified driver of a trailer with no registration number and a Sayang 100 Motorcycle with no registration number were involved in a fatal road traffic crash 31th July, 2022 at about 16:45hrs.”
Probable cause of the crash was loss of control as a result of excessive speed.
According to eyewitness report, the driver of the trailer was on speed, lost control, hit and crushed the motorcyclist beyond recognition and didn’t stop.
3 male adults were involved in the crash. 1 male adult (motorcylist) was killed. Others were not injured.
As at the time of the incident, FRSC rescue team from RS5.34 Ihiala packed the remains of the dead victim in the body bag and deposited it at our Lady of Lourdes mortuary Ihiala and cleared all the obstructions.
The Sector Commander however commiserated with the family of the dead victim and equally prayed for the repose of the soul of the dead accident victim while cautioning motorists in the state to avoid over speeding and ensure they kept to recommended speed limits.
