The newly elected Traditional Ruler of Oba community in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, Igwe Engr Augustine Chinedu Emelobe, Eze Okpoko II, has announced plans to establish a radio and television station in the area.
According to the monarch, the community has obtained a license to operate a 5000kw capacity TV and radio station, which will cover the entire South Eastern States, South South, and parts of North Central States.
The project is expected to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2025.
The radio and TV stations will serve as a major connection between Oba and the world, projecting the image of Oba in its own narratives and terms.
It will also create jobs, open up commercial opportunities, and allow the community to tell its own story.
The monarch disclosed that several committees have been constituted to help achieve the vision of making Oba a mega city, where both indigenes and non-indigenes would love to reside, invest, and be part of.
He urged illustrious sons and daughters of Oba to identify with any of the committees to make meaningful contributions that would foster peace, progress, and development.
The establishment of the radio and TV stations is part of the community’s development initiative, aimed at creating jobs, reducing security challenges, and youth restiveness.
The monarch assured that the projects planned for Oba are primarily geared towards creating jobs for the teeming youths and others.
With this development, Oba community is set to take a significant step towards progress and development, and its people are optimistic about the future.
