The Anambra State Police Command has recovered an abandoned AK-47 rifle in a residential apartment under renovation at Ihuowele Ngo Village, Igboukwu, in Aguata Local Government Area. The recovery, according to Force Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga was made possible through timely information provided by community members.
Ikenga said that preliminary investigations confirms the rifle may be connected to a certain Samson, a notorious individual who was the former occupant of the apartment. Samson has been missing from the area since June 2024, and the police are currently working to track and apprehend him.

He further stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the community members for their vigilance and reiterated the importance of community-police collaboration.
He urged the people of Anambra to continue providing timely and actionable information to aid the police in protecting lives and property of citizens.
