A disturbing video has emerged online showing armed operatives of Anambra State’s government-backed vigilante group, Agunechemba (popularly known as Udogachi), brutally assaulting a young lady believed to be a youth corper in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
In the viral footage, the operatives could be seen flogging and slapping the helpless young woman while tearing her clothes in public. She was heard screaming in pain, repeatedly crying out “please, please” as she begged for her life. The scene has triggered widespread outrage, with many Nigerians condemning the inhumane treatment.

It is not yet clear what led to the assault. Social media user Iyke Orji, who raised alarm in a Facebook post, alleged that the vigilante operatives had stormed Oba in a raid targeting suspected internet fraudsters, popularly called “Yahoo Boys.” In the course of the operation, the young corper was allegedly attacked.
Observers have described the assault as a shameful abuse of power. Commentators warn that the victim could have been “anyone’s daughter, sister, neighbour or friend.”
Neither the Anambra State Police Command nor the state government has reacted to the viral video at the time of filing this report.
