I’m More Educated Than Soludo — Paul Chukwuma

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) governorship candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has declared himself the most academically prepared contender in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, asserting that no other candidate matches his educational pedigree.

Speaking at a weekend gathering, Chukwuma dismissed recent remarks by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who had derided his candidacy, describing the governor’s commentary as “comic relief” rather than serious governance.

“Education is not about parading a single degree in one field of study. If it becomes necessary, I will gladly present my chain of degrees,” Chukwuma said. “I am not like those the incumbent governor tries to taunt for poor education. Ndi Anambra deserve accountability, not theatrics.”

He faulted Soludo for what he described as three years of underwhelming performance, arguing that the governor’s penchant for jesting is a distraction from the pressing realities facing the state.

“The time for comedy is over,” Chukwuma charged. “Insecurity, crumbling infrastructure, and dwindling social life stare Ndi Anambra in the face. The people are not entertained by jokes when lives and livelihoods are at stake.”

Chukwuma, 47, said he represents “the quality alternative” — a candidate with competence, vision, and integrity. He added that Soludo’s recent focus on his age was a calculated attempt to divert attention from his administration’s shortcomings.

“Governor Soludo, who came into office with the weight of academic expectations, has sadly become a disappointment,” Chukwuma stated. “Rather than showcasing tangible achievements as the 2025 elections approach, he prefers to ridicule hardworking citizens. That is not governance.”

The YPP candidate highlighted his academic credentials as evidence of his preparedness: a first-class degree in Philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; another first-class in Law from Baze University; and a distinction in his Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Derby. Beyond his educational laurels, Chukwuma noted his success as an entrepreneur with business interests across multiple sectors.

He accused the governor of presiding over “weakening institutions, poor-quality infrastructure projects, and a worsening security situation,” insisting that his own candidacy was rooted in addressing these failings.

“We remind Professor Soludo that the progress and safety of Ndi Anambra are far more important than my age or his ego,” Chukwuma declared. “No amount of iko onu will distract us from the rescue mission we have begun.”

With campaigns set to intensify ahead of the November poll, Chukwuma said he remains focused on providing “positive change, not jokes,” while urging the electorate to demand accountability from the incumbent.
