F.A Ike: Meet the Igbo Man Behind one of the Oldest Brands in Nigeria.

Long before modern pharmacies dotted our streets, a man from Arondizuogu in Imo State was already crafting remedies that healed countless Nigerians.

His name was Chief Fredrick Aladinbuli Ike fondly called Dr. Aladdin.

In the 1950s, when measles and chickenpox swept through communities unchecked, Dr. Aladdin began experimenting with local herbs. After years of refining his formula, he produced what became known as the “7 Keys Herbal Mixture” a potent blend believed to treat measles, chickenpox, and other feverish skin conditions.

From a small herbal shop in Fegge Onitsha, his brand F. A. Ike and Sons Medicine Company grew into a household name across Nigeria. Parents swore by it. Herbal vendors stocked it. And soon, “Dr. Aladdin” became a symbol of homegrown healing wisdom.

Though he passed away in 1995, his legacy lives on through F. A. Ike and Sons Ltd, which continues to produce the 7 Keys Mixture today one of Nigeria’s oldest surviving herbal brands.

Chief Fredrick Aladinbuli Ike’s story reminds us that African knowledge systems have always been rich, scientific in their own way, and worthy of preservation.

A true son of Arondizuogu whose roots gave birth to remedies that touched generations.
