The Anambra State Police Command has advised individuals and organizations planning to distribute palliatives during the Yuletide season to formally notify relevant security agencies ahead of time.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, appealed to the general public, particularly individuals, groups, political organizations, religious bodies, and non-governmental organizations who intend to distribute palliatives during the Christmas and New Year celebrations to inform the appropriate security authorities in advance.

According to the statement, this proactive measure is aimed at enabling adequate security planning and deployment, ensuring orderliness at distribution points, safeguarding lives and property, managing crowd control, and preventing potential security breaches or other untoward incidents that may arise during such activities.

SP Ikenga said that early notification would allow security agencies to provide necessary support, including traffic control, intelligence monitoring, and rapid response in case of emergencies, thereby guaranteeing the safety of both organizers and beneficiaries.

The Command, therefore, called for the cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders to help maintain peace, law, and order, and to ensure a safe and secure Yuletide celebration across Anambra State.

“For ease of coordination and adherence to established protocols, attached are the phone numbers of the respective Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, who are available to provide necessary guidance and assistance,” the statement added.
