Describing the Nation’s leaders as destroyers, the fiery cleric decried their inhumane attitude to citizens suffering from various forms of hardships.

“Any government that fails to expedite, guarantee and sustain security and welfare of her citizens has lost purpose, legality, usefulness and continuity,” he said.

While lamenting the the spate of killings, terrorism, religious and ethnic cleansing in the country, Ikeakor renewed his call on eligible voters to get their voters card ready ahead of the 2027 polls.

“Your vote is your power and the only tool for effecting change in government,” he added.

The Bishop commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State for his reelection, charging him to continue delivery of people oriented policies and projects.

Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Alexander Ibezim, described the synod theme as apt, reminded the faithful of the need to constantly contend for their faith in the last days.

Addressing the synod, Senator representing Anambra South, Emma Nwachukwu called on Nigerians to exercise patience with the present administration expressing optimism of an improved economy.

Also, the NDC Senatorial Candidate for Anambra South, Ebuka Onunkwo said only true democracy which is grassroots oriented will deliver good governance to Nigerians.

Highpoints of the synod were preferment of some priests to Archdeacons and Revd Canons, as well as handing over of cheques worth N5 million to four priests from the Diocesan housing scheme.

Dignitaries at the event included Anglican Bishops from across the country, traditional rulers, government functionaries among others.
