The Anambra State Police Command has recovered a suspected stolen vehicle with bl00d stains and arrested four suspected cultists during separate security operations, all in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the breakthroughs are part of the 2026 rigid strategic operational positioning introduced by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, aimed at improving security and sustaining safety across Anambra State.

The PPRO disclosed that in the early hours of January 25, 2026, operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Squad attached to the Obosi Sector, working in collaboration with a vigilante group from Akuzo Nkpor, were on routine patrol when they sighted a green Honda Pilot Jeep parked within the area.

The vehicle, bearing registration number KSF 671 BG, was said to have been abandoned under suspicious and questionable circumstances, prompting the operatives to conduct a thorough search.

The PPRO said during the search, the police observed blood stains inside the vehicle, leading to its immediate recovery for further investigation. The Police Command, through the PPRO, noted that necessary inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and to determine whether the vehicle is linked to any violent crime.

Furthermore, the Police Spokesman said in a related development later the same day, the Police Command recorded another success with the arrest of four suspected cultists within the Nkpor community.

SP Ikenga explained that the suspects were arrested in the late evening of January 25, 2026, following credible intelligence gathered by operatives during sustained security patrols in the area.

The arrested suspects, according to him, were identified as Hampo Chidiebere (20), Chinonso Edeh (22), Chinedu Agu (21), and Abuchi Anigbogu (18), all males.

According to the press statement, the suspects, during interrogation, confessed to being members of the Barger Confraternity, a cult group allegedly responsible for terrorising Nkpor community and its environs.

The PPRO further disclosed that police operatives have intensified efforts to arrest other members of the cult group and to recover weapons being used for their operations.

While reaffirming the Command’s stance, he also re-assured that the Anambra State Police Command remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property and will not relent in its efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the state.
