Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi has urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the nation’s electoral process.

Obi who gave the advice on Thursday during his visits to voter registration centre at Nise and Nri civic centres in Anambra state to encourage massive registration, said the ugly experience in the last general elections was not enough to give up hope.

He urged eligible voters yet to obtain their voters card to take advantage of the ongoing continuous voter registration to register, assuring them that their votes would count in the next elections.

Obi described the process as the surest way of guaranteeing better country and securing good governance for future generations.

He said, “While I move around registration centers, I try to encourage those yet to register because it’s their civic responsibility.

“That’s the way we can collectively build a better country where government will care about the people’s education, health, better roads, schools and security.

“I know people always say their votes don’t count. Some even told me that they voted for me last time. While I thank them for voting for me in 2023, I urge them not to relent.

“I also urge more to come out and do the same thing. We can’t give up because it didn’t work yesterday. We only work for a better future by doing the right thing. That’s where I’m committed to.

“I’m urging all Nigerians who are of the age of voting and have not registered to go out and register to vote and vote in the coming election. I assure you that your votes will count this time around.

While pointing at a grounded vehicle he bought for security operatives in the area during his tenure as governor, Obi regretted that such important facility was yet to be replaced.

“That’s why we’re encouraging you to go and register so you can be part of building a country where everyone can be catered for.”

Reacting to the party’s appeal against recent Lokoja court judgement, the former Anambra state governor expressed confidence in the party’s victory.

“As per our appeal, I’m sure the judiciary will do the right thing. All we are interested is to do our part,” he added.
